Reviews!

To any authors/publishers/ tour companies that are looking for the reviews that I signed up for please know this is very hard to do. I will be stopping reviews temporarily. My husband passed away February 1st and my new normal is a bit scary right now and I am unable to concentrate on a book to do justice to the book and authors. I will still do spotlight posts if you wish it is just the reviews at this time. I apologize for this, but it isn't fair to you if I signed up to do a review and haven't been able to because I can't concentrate on any books. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. I appreciate all of you. Kathleen Kelly April 2nd 2024

Firefly Island by Lisa Wingate Review for Litfuse Publicity Group

About Firefly Island:
Sometimes love takes you on an adventure completely off the map.

Mallory Hale's life quickly veers off course when she falls hopelessly in love. After a whirlwind romance, Mallory finds herself leaving the bustle and action of Capitol Hill for the remote town of Moses Lake, Texas-with husband, stepson, and a U-Haul in tow.

A sweet, mishap-filled journey into marriage, motherhood, and ranch living ensues, and Mallory is filled with both the wonderment of love and the insecurities of change. But what she can't shake is the unease she feels around her husband's new boss, Jack West. Jack's presence-and his mysterious past-set her on edge, and when hints of a scandal emerge, Mallory finds herself seeking answers . . . and comes to realize that the middle-of-nowhere home she wasn't sure she wanted is the very place she'll risk everything to save.

My Review:
Firefly Island is about a young woman, Mallory, who lives and works in Washington DC and has a run in, literally, with a young man, Daniel. She thinks she will never see him again but she does end up seeing him again and they start dating and then get married. She becomes a mom as Daniel has a young son and gives up her job as a Congressional staffer to move with her husband and his son to Texas where Daniel has been offered a job for Jack West. Once there she finds that not all is as she thought it would be. The ranch they are on is owned by a man that she does not like or trust, the home they are to live in is dirty and rundown with vermin and varmints all over the place and there are mysteries surrounding Jack West.

Mallory makes the best of things and determines to make the house a home for Daniel and Nick. With the help of a woman who lives nearby they make the home livable. Mallory and Nick spend a lot of time together they make friends in the community. I loved the relationship that Mallory and Nick have in the story, it is hard to love another persons child but she manages and Nick appears to be a well adjusted little boy who clearly adores Mallory. She has a lot of doubts about a lot of things so after some encouragement, she starts a blog called The Frontier Woman.

The mystery in the story starts when Jack West's son appears on the ranch. Jack who is clearly an unhappy man, a real curmudgeon if you will, seems to perk up and become a different person when his estranged son makes a visit to the ranch. Certain things start to happen that make Daniel and Mallory suspicious of Jack's son and when an accident happens, they find themselves embroiled in a scheme that could ruin a lot of people's lives and livelihoods.

A story told with humor, love , faith and romance to make this a fun read. I understand that this is the third book in the series, but I had no problem getting into it even though I had not read the previous two. I enjoyed it immensely.

I received this book for review and was not monetarily compensated for my review.
